New Under the Sun, Part 2

Chaos reigns, or at least it has felt like it for the last few months.  Still does.  Things may be slowly coming together . But I am certainly not sure.

I noticed that New Under the Sun, Part 1, was written in March, four months ago.  So here is part 2.  Hubby and I spent from January 1 through April on Jekyll Island.  We were renting on the beach again (and what a beach!).  At one point we decided to start looking around for some property in the south, because we both wanted to leave New York State…you know, enough is enough.  The plan was (and is) to live in the South in the winter and the North in the summer.  I was in the process of checking out some retirement communities in Florida, when we started talking to one of the realtors on Jekyll.  She showed us a lovely two bedroom contel (condominium hotel) that the owners needed to sell rapidly at quite a discount.  Well, by the end of February we had purchased the condo.  A contel is a condo that is rented out by a management company when the owners are not in residence.  So when we are in the North, we get paid rent and when we want to stay there in the winter, it is waiting for us and then we can stay 100 yards from the Atlantic Ocean.  It seems like the best of all worlds.  We will see how it works.

We have spent the spring and early summer putting our home in the North up for sale, we have an interested party and hope for a closing soon.  We have been spending time at the cabin in the Pennsylvania mountains, except for the month of June on Cape Cod.  Our daughter’s family came to hang out for almost a week while we were there – a lovely time.  We came back to the cabin for a few weeks and then headed west for a little sightseeing in North Dakota, followed by the long awaited Road Scholar trip into Yellowstone National Park (cancelled last year thanks to Covid). More about that trip to come soon.

The adventure continues…
